What is Physical Therapy?
Physical therapy is the art and science of restoring movement and relieving pain. It is nearly as old as pain itself. Early Chinese and Roman cultures used physical means such as exercise, therapeutic massage, water and heat to restore movement, relieve pain and as preventive health care. Today physical therapists are specifically trained to improve your posture, strength, balance and overall functioning as well as relieve pain. To help return you to optimal health, your physical therapist will first perform a comprehensive evaluation. Next, he will help you set goals, to be accomplished during therapy. Finally, he will prescribe and instruct a specific exercise program, perform manual therapy techniques and use various modalities, as indicated by your condition, to help you reach your goals.

     What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a form of diagnosing and treating illnesses affecting nerves, muscles, bones and joints. It was developed in the late 1800s as a manipulative technique for realigning displaced vertebra. Although contemporary practices introduced additional therapies, manipulation remains the foundation. Chiropractic is the third largest health profession in the Western world, with 20 million patients a year in the U.S.
On your first visit, your chiropractor will take a health history on your injuries, illnesses, medications, work conditions, lifestyle, diet, sleep and exercise habits. Next comes a physical exam and diagnostic tests, such as blood pressure and x-rays, as indicated. Treatment is then administered based on your history and exam. The most common maneuver is manual manipulation, a low-force thrust of the selected joint at its end range. A typical course of treatment involves multiple sessions over several weeks. Patients often achieve the best results when combining chiropractic with modalities and physical and massage therapies. Chiropractic has shown to be effective in treating many types of  back and neck pain, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, symptoms of Mesothelioma Cancer, ear infections, digestive problems, menstrual pain, asthma, and many other musculoskelatal and nervous system related problems.

     What is Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy is a hands on modality consisting of a variety of techniques designed to reduce pain, improve circulation, reduce tension, decrease muscle spasm, increase flexibility, decrease headaches, improve healing and release endorphins. Some of the specific styles your massage therapist can perform include: Swedish or Relaxation, Therapeutic or Deep Tissue, and Neuromuscular or Integrative Massage.

     What is Pilates?
Pilates is system of strengthening, conditioning, toning, stability, balance and flexibility exercises that can be performed with specific equipment, including reformers, therapy tables and exercise balls. It was developed by Joseph Pilates nearly 100 years ago, and has become very popular recently because of its low-impact and highly effective nature.
